Two new bridges and more ferries across the Thames are needed to ease congestion in the east of the capital, a new report states.
The
Transport for London study commissioned by Mayor Boris Johnson recommends a pedestrian and cycle bridge between North Greenwich and Canary Wharf, a tunnel or bridge at Silvertown and improved passenger ferries.
The East London River Crossings Review took into account changes in the area since Canary Wharf, Excel and the 02 were built.
It also calls for better cycling and pedestrian access, a vehicle ferry at Gallions Reach and an upgrade of the Woolwich Ferry. Mr Johnson said he would "dig deeper" into the "sensible" recommendations.
