Two new bridges and more ferries across the Thames are needed to ease congestion in the east of the capital, a new report states.
The Transport for London study commissioned by Mayor Boris Johnson recommends a pedestrian and cycle bridge between North Greenwich and Canary Wharf, a tunnel or bridge at Silvertown and improved passenger ferries.
The East London River Crossings Review took into account changes in the area since Canary Wharf, Excel and the 02 were built.
It also calls for better cycling and pedestrian access, a vehicle ferry at Gallions Reach and an upgrade of the Woolwich Ferry. Mr Johnson said he would "dig deeper" into the "sensible" recommendations.

Aluna tidal powered Moonclock
"Imagine a breathtaking sculpture that combines cutting edge design and technology with an ancient knowledge of the Earth's natural rhythms.A monumental timepiece for the planet, a beacon for a sustainable future, reconnecting people with the Moon and tides...
Using the latest design and technologies, Alunatime will be powered directly by the tides using turbines. A waterside landmark and a public sculpture, Aluna unites art, science and spirituality and is an ever-changing reminder of the natural cycles that have shaped our past and will determine our future."

Urban Sampling
A really interesting clip exploring the idea of urban sampling, imposing a variety of different location onto the same spot. This exercise reveilles a lot of information on both, the imposed but mainly the chosen location. Maybe worth a try for your project location.

I guess you have been to the AA summer show, if not you might want to go and have a look. Beside the bartlett summer show this is one of the highlight in the academic architecture year.
We will be focusing on the thesis part of your final submission. Send me some stuff that you have written for your thesis so that I can go trough it before the tutorial and we can discuss it.
Also use the blog to upload the latest development in your design work. Please try to do so by Thursday noon.
